How to get saved.

by Christopher Lamparello

God loves you so much.

He loves you so much that He agreed to sacrifice the life of His only Son so that you may experience the kind of peace that only He can provide. The Bible tells us that . . .

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16, NKJV)

God will lead you where you need to go, even if you don't know the way.

Maybe you're afraid to open your heart to Christ because you aren't sure where it will lead you. I encourage you to take that chance! God will lead you where you need to go.

And remember not to judge what it means to be a Christian based upon the actions of some other Christians.

The fact that we witness some Christians behaving badly doesn't mean that there isn't a God. We need to be respectful of where others are on their road of faith. Only God knows what is in a person's heart.

When we get close to God, our flaws become obvious. But it is precisely due to that very reason that we approach Him. We want Him to show us a better way.

God doesn't turn anyone away; only churches do.

No matter who you are, God will not turn you away. As you read this, He is aware of everything that you have done. He knows your failings and your loneliness. That's why He knocks on the door of your heart. There is nothing God hasn't seen, nothing that He hasn't dealt with.

I have told many people that even if every church in America closed their doors to me, I will still worship God Almighty. Depending on who you are, some churches may not accept you, but nothing can come between you and God.

No one can come between your relationship with Christ, not even Christians.

Sometimes, the biggest problem with Christianity is Christians themselves. But your relationship with God is personal. It's between you and Him. What other Christians see on the outside isn't necessarily what's on the inside.

Some Christians may even attempt to tell you that you aren't saved, or that you haven't done it right. They will attempt to change you. But if you're tuned in to God's voice, He will speak to you. Listen to the whisper of His voice and He will lead you in the right direction.

"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you . . . Humble (yourself) in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up." (James 4:8a, James 4:10, NKJV)

You don't have to be a fanatic to get saved.

You may have distanced yourself from God because you don't want to become a fanatic. The good news is that you don't have to do that. You don't have to walk around talking about God all the time. You don't have to run around shouting "praise the Lord" all the time.

You don't have to pull people aside and harangue them. You don't have to hand out literature on street corners. Instead, you can simply be a Christian of peace and acceptance, one of quiet conscience. You will be able to lead by example. If God wants you to help someone, He will lead them to you. It will happen naturally. You will shine like a beacon in a storm.

You don't have to become a conservative.

A lot of people think that being a Christian means becoming a right-wing conservative. Nothing could be further from the truth. Your politics are irrelevant to God. You could be a conservative or a liberal. He will still accept you with open arms.

Becoming a Christian doesn't mean that you'll have to start trying to force prayer into the public schools. It doesn't mean that you'll have to start picketing abortion clinics. It doesn't mean that you'll have to put down different religions.

It doesn't mean that you have to think that peple who believe differently than you are going to hell. It doesn't mean that you have to reject your friends who might be atheists or people of different faiths. Just be a silent witness, and when the time is right, they will ask you about God.

Getting saved simply means that you accept the superiority of God. You give him the "green light" to effect your life and to lead you where He wants you to go.

Why not give God a try?

Some folks think that Christianity is absurd. Often, our mutual faith is made the butt of jokes by Hollywood. We are seen as stupid and uneducated. Today, faith has become a joke to some people. Some think that they are too intellectual to accept God into their lives.

Public opinion polls show that people who have accepted God have the highest level of satisfaction in life. Are they deceiving themselves? Maybe. But the only way to find out is for you to make the decision to give God a try. True intellectuals like to find out for themselves.

Why take someone else's word for it?

Every human being has a "built-in" need for God. You feel that void, don't you? Millions of people have attempted to satisfy it with drugs, alcohol, sex, money or a host of other things. But the emptiness always remains. None of that other stuff ever works, so why not see what all this "God stuff" is about for yourself?

God speaks to people in a whisper.

God still speaks to people today, and He wants to guide you through life. There are tens of billions of people in the world, and yet, through His majesty, God is able to have a "one-on-one" relationship with anyone who asks.

God speaks to people in a whisper. The reason that God does this is because He gives you the option to ignore His voice. He will never force the Holy Ghost into your life. He wants you to decide for yourself, because in His love, He grants us free will.

You can accept His love right here and now.

No matter who you are, God wants to be a part of your life. But you need to open the door. He makes it easy for you. Just let Him know that you accept His promise of helping you. If you want to accept Him, simply pray the love prayer below.

God, I invite you into my life right now. I accept, by faith, that Jesus is your Son, and that He died for me and my sins, not so that I might be condemned but so that I might be set free. Please forgive me for the things I have done wrong. I make you the master of my life. I submit my will to you. I need you, God. Please help me. Amen.

If you have prayed the love prayer...

If you have prayed the prayer above and have believed it with your heart, and have truly subordinated your will to the Almighty, you have just been saved! Yep, that's all there is to it. He makes it so easy to accept Him!

The important thing now is to start a prayer life. Through prayer, God will continue to help and bless you. God doesn't close His ears to anyone, not one.
